Wedding Reception Flow
Your wedding reception should be a celebratory occasion for both you and your guests to enjoy. Along with great music, food and an awesome venue, you need an experienced wedding DJ and MC team to keep a smooth wedding reception flow to your day.
Our goal at Dubreezy Entertainment is to make sure your wedding reception is fun and entertaining and that your guests will not be able to stop talking about it for years and years to come.
We like to customize the DJ entertainment for each wedding reception we perform for. Here is a great example of how fun your wedding reception could be with a great DJ and MC from Dubreezy Entertainment.
How Will My Wedding Reception Flow?
As your guests are beginning to show up, we will welcome them and make any announcements needed to inform them of anything. Typically it’s to encourage them to sign the guest book, get a photo from the photo booth (if there is one), enjoy hors-d’oeuvres, get drinks from the bar, post pictures to social media using your own wedding hashtag (which we recommend), etc.
Once it’s time to be formally introduced to all your family and friends for the second time as a married couple, we’ll ask them to take their seats and introduce either just the newlyweds or the newlyweds and entire wedding party.
Our MC will then introduce the father of the bride to give a welcome speech.
Once he finishes, it’s time to have a little fun with getting your guests to the dinner buffet. We’ll typically dismiss tables to the buffet in a fun and interactive way.
We can do some trivia for this or do it as a contest too.
Once everyone has gone through the buffet and you’ve finished your meal, you can have a little time to visit your guests at their tables before the toasts get started.
Typically the best man will start the toast, followed by the maid of honor and then the groom’s parents. If you’d like to have an open mic, we will invite any other guest that wants to come up and say a few words, either way you (the couple) can toast also at the very end.
After the toast, it’s usually time for a cake cutting ceremony. We’ll play the cake cutting song you choose and you may then do whatever feels natural to you at the cake cutting ceremony.
Wedding Reception Flow Through Dances
This part of the reception is the transition into dancing. The bride and grooms first dance comes after cake cutting, then the bride/father dance, groom/mother dance and any other special dances that will take place.
Anniversary dance, dollar dance and/or wedding party dance can all be done during this time.
After the last special dance, it’s time for a dance party.
After about 30 to 45 minutes of dancing, we can stop and do the bouquet toss and garter toss and just keep the dance party going until the very last song.

Just a reminder that this traditional wedding reception outline can be changed and customized to meet your needs. We can do things in any order that you’d like. Our job is just to make sure your wedding reception flow is smooth.
