80s R&B. What else can be said? Just the phrase “80s R&B” makes me move. Generational genres don’t get the credit they deserve.
Sure, not all music is good from one generation to the next. But, when you throw some of the top hits from a generation including an amazing genre like R&B, you can’t go wrong. Here is a list of my top 80s R&B Dance Songs that will make you move and your guests out on that dance floor.
My Favorite and Best 80s R&B Dance Songs
1. “Saturday Love” by Cherrelle feat Alexander O’Neal
Songs were so well written back in the day. Not only the lyrics, but the beats, hooks, and transitions were key. Saturday Love truly gives us a look back at one of the most well written and body moving dance songs. This one sits at the top of my list for 80s dance songs.
2. “Da Butt” by E.U.
DA BUTT! Feel it? Dance it up with this 80s dance song kickback.
3. “Just Got Paid” by Johnny Kemp
That snare drum is just relentless! This is one 80s dance song for the ages. You gotta use some of that money you earned to have fun!
4. “Outstanding” by The Gap Band
Look at these fresh 80s players! 80s R&B classic right here!!
5. “Never Too Much” by Luther Vandross
Incorporating guitar, keyboard, and symphonic tones… Man you know you’re fresh with Luther Vandross. Take your 80’s R&B dance party to the next level with this one.

Classic street fighter hits on this R&B shaker. Dancing comes easy when you got a hook like that “I WANT HER”.

What a crew this was! It’s 80s R&B dance and 70s smooth disco all wrapped up in one saucy mix up. Clean. Fresh. Frankie Beverly and Maze ladies and gentlemen.
8. “Every Little Step” by Bobby Brown
Uh oh, bad boy Bobby Brown on the scene! The pinnacle of 80’s R&B dance music right here. Believe me, Bobby had some of the hippest music back in the day. Innovative beats and really top of the line production.
9. “Ain’t Nobody” by Chaka Khan
Oh yeah, we had some pretty fresh ladies back-in-the-day too. Chaka Khan. Beautiful on many many levels. 80s R&B dance song favorite.
10. “Don’t Be Cruel” by Bobby Brown
Bobby dresses up a bit in this 80’s R&B hit as he makes his second appearence on my list. Dance slow or fast with this even tempo’d jam.
