Seattle Corporate Event DJ performs on the Seattle Waterfront

DUBREEZY ENTERTAINMENT performed as corporate event DJ for The Seattle Marriott Waterfront Hotel employee awards gala. A low key Thursday night event scheduled for only three hours from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Myself (DJ DUBREEZY) and DJ Anthony Assouan aka DJ BUDDHA were the assigned staff on hand for this event.

I was informed that only eight people rsvp’d but more were expected.

Corporate Event DJ Setup

I arrived at 3:45 pm, to unload/setup the DJ equipment. Just using a basic setup with no dance floor lighting, I was setup by about 4:15 pm. The Marriott provided their own uplighting.

I was unable to do sound check since there was a meeting going on in the next ballroom over but it was scheduled to end at 5:00 pm. They wrapped up early so I did a sound check at 4:45 pm which was the same time guests were starting to arrive.

I used Mark Morrison, “Return of the Mack” to test the DJ sound system and three guests immediately started dancing on the dance floor.

At 5:00 pm, the official start time of the event, the buffet was opened and guests started eating dinner. DJ BUDDHA also arrived and we started off with an upbeat mix of 80’s pop, top 40 and hip hop music.

From 5:30 pm to 6:00 pm, there were awards and announcements by the human resources director and the general manager. Then they gave out a bunch of prizes to some of the employes by way of raffle tickets.

At 6:00 pm, DJ Buddha took the lead on the turntables mixin’ it up with some Michael Jackson, Kid Ink, Prince and Chris Brown just to name a few.

He also got in some group dances like the Cha Cha Slide, Wobble, Cupid Shuffle and the Electric Slide.

After about 45 minutes of dancing, it was time for us to give away some prizes. We gave away two prizes. The first we did the musical chairs/scavenger hunt contest and second we did an interactive DJ contest that includes everyone called heads or tails that DJ Buddha emceed and I did the DJ portion of it.

DJ Buddha came back to the DJ booth to play a couple more songs then the human resources director at the Marriott came up to give away more prizes.

We played a few more classics from the 80’s and the night ended at 8:00 pm. We packed up in about 20 minutes and another successful event was in the books.

All together there were about 40 people that showed up.
