That’s right, over my past 20 years of being a professional wedding and event DJ, I’ve put together some of the best songs for a summertime cookout/barbeque suitable for all ages. This classic playlist will surely keep everyone off their feet during the festivities. Enjoy!

A cookout isn’t complete without a Will Smith track to grill and vibe to. This song is definitely one of my favorites!
2. Bill Withers – “Lovely Day”
Looking to set the mood at the BBQ? Need some perfect nostalgic but never dying music? Here’s a track by Bill Withers, “Lovely Day.” The name says it all.
3. Montell Jordan – “This Is How We Do It”
THIS IS HOW WE DO IT! Great song when the meat is almost done cookin’ and ready to be in everyone’s tummies. Work those tongs.
4. Marvin Gaye – “Got to Give It Up”
Now here’s a song to put on while eating. A barbeque should be jammin’ some good music all throughout. It will have everyone nodding their heads while munching on the grilled goodies. Plus, Marvin Gaye, never fails.
5. Maze featuring Frankie Beverly – “Before I Let Go”
To beef it up a bit; another song, “Before I Let Go”, by Maze featuring Frankie Beverly. Great vibes for the cookout.
6. Earth Wind & Fire – “Let’s Groove”
Is everyone standing around and not dancing?! Ridiculous, put this song on and it will put everyone in the groove at your BBQ. Let’s get em’ dancing!
7. Lakeside – “Fantastic Voyage”
“Fantastic Voyage”, a classic, incredibly famous song. Another one to get the cookout dancing! So many vibes. So many.
8. Sister Nancy – “Bam Bam”
If you bring out the reggae, you’ve brought out the big guns to the cookout. Great iconic song to have everyone singing to! Bam bam bam bam bi lam~…
9. Ini Kamoze – “Here Comes the Hotstepper”
Like we said, reggae doesn’t go wrong for sure. “Here Comes The Hotstepper”, by Ini Kamoze is an all-time favorite by many. This song is definitely one of my favorites and is of many!
10. Bob Marley – “Buffalo Soldier”
Now, the ultimate reggae icon and legend, Bob Marley and his song, “Buffalo Soldier”. If we’re really talking setting the vibe at the cookout, this is my number 1 go to. Play it, love it, enjoy!
