Wedding Planning Tips for Brides and Grooms
Your wedding day is going to be one of the most special days of your life, however, the wedding planning process is not. Ultimately this day is for you and you want this day to be fun, stress-free and memorable. It should also be equally as fun and memorable for all your family and friends that get dressed up and take time out of their busy lives to come and celebrate with you.
Aside from the free food and drinks, your guests will most likely enjoy, there are some other things to keep in mind while planning for your wedding.
Check out these helpful wedding planning tips for brides and grooms, to make it a smooth day for everyone.
Wedding Planning Tips for Brides and Grooms
Any of these vendors you hire should be licensed and insured. Here are some other specific things to look for from each vendor during the wedding planning process.
VENUES
When looking for wedding venues, make sure you visit them (obviously). Some other things to take note of are:
- Lighting System – Make sure the venue lighting can be dimmed. Weddings are an intimate affair, mood lighting is important.
- Parking – Make sure there is plenty of parking and your venue is easily accessible.
- Noise – Weddings can get loud so make sure there are no complaining neighbors that will cause you to have to be quiet.
- Space – Make sure there is plenty of space for everyone to mingle without feeling crowded. It’s a good idea to make sure everything is in one room (bar, buffet, photo booth, etc.)
- Bathrooms – Make sure there are plenty of bathroom options or a good portion of your guests will spend your wedding celebration standing in line for the bathroom.
CATERERS
Great food, great drinks and great desserts!!!
- Dishes – Make sure your caterer brings enough plates for everyone and even a few extra ones. I’ve been to quite a few weddings where the caterers ran out of plates.
- Food – Taste your wedding day menu first, before signing a contract with them, make sure they offer tastings.
- Wedding Cake – The same rules from above can be applied here.
WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHERS
I always thought it is best to have at least two photographers at your event. Some others beg to differ.
- Photographers – Know how many photographers will be there.
- Time – Make sure they are there until the very end. Some will be done after the special dances. There are still memories that need to be captured after the dances.
- Photos – Look at their past client’s albums. Make note of shots you want to be captured on your wedding day.
DJ
Our favorite vendor. This is one of the most important vendors you’ll choose. Your DJ will have a lot of control over your event.
- Professional – Make sure this person is professional.
- Music – Music is legally acquired.
- References – Read reviews and ask for references.
Wedding Planning Tips and Ideas
Make sure you meet with a few different wedding vendors from each category and you’ll know which ones are the right ones to choose. If this starts to get overwhelming, you always have the option of hiring an experienced wedding coordinator.
We have a number of vendors that we know and love. Being in the wedding industry for over 20 years, we’ve had an opportunity to work with many different ones. If you need a referral to a great venue, caterer, wedding photographer or wedding coordinator, let us know and we’d be happy to help.
