A couple changes from the usual weddings we DJ for in the Seattle area, this wedding was in Port Gamble at the Hood Canal Vista Pavilion and it was also a December wedding which called for Christmas decorations.
Reception Highlights – Port Gamble Weddings
Guests arrived a little early but since I was already set up and ready to go, I started some background music at 2:45 pm until the string quartet took over at the scheduled start time of 3:00 pm. Arcobaleno Strings provided the music.
After cocktail hour, guests were invited to take their seats and get ready for the delicious dinner buffet provided by Crescent Moon Catering. Prior to opening up the buffet, there was a traditional military toast given since the groom was in the Marines.
Tables were then dismissed two at a time after the bride and groom started.
Next up was the regular toast given by the best man, maid of honor, father of the groom, father of the bride and all toast wrapped up with the groom and bride giving their own speeches.
Cake cutting ceremony followed with a beautiful cake from Gayle Orth Catering. He ended up using his military sabre to cut the cake.
After cake cutting, it was right into first dance. The couple had two parts to their first dance. The first part was played live by Arcobaleno Strings and the second part was played by myself, the wedding DJ.
This also marked the end of the string music and it was DJ music from here on out. After first dance, the couple did a parent dance with the groom dancing with his mother and the bride dancing with her father together.
I opened up the dance floor playing a mix of music from a request list the couple provided to me and music I know to get the party going.
I then stopped and did the bouquet and, instead of tossing the garter, the groom tossed his handfasting cloth from the ceremony.
We continued to dance and the the bride and groom were sent off with a sparkler send off. Here is a shot of the couple dancing their last dance together. I like to have all the guests make a circle around them.
