Rainy Night For A Robinswood House Wedding

Seattle is nationally known for it’s rain but it doesn’t rain as much as people think here. In fact, I’ve traveled to other parts of the country and seen rain that I’ve never seen before, in my life, in Seattle.

Well, for the Robinswood House wedding I did over the weekend in Bellevue, WA… rain was definitely in the forecast.

Just to give you an idea of how great the weather had been leading up to the wedding, take a look at the forecast:

August 29, 2015 was the date of the wedding.

Robinswood House Wedding Ceremony

The rain held up for the ceremony which was not covered by anything. It was short and sweet. The songs chosen for there ceremony were:

► Wedding Party and Bride Processional – “Lullaby + Exile” by M. Ward

► Recessional – “You Make My Dreams Come True” by Hall and Oates

There was a separate sound system provided for the ceremony since the Robinswood House has the ceremony location on the lower lawn away from the dance floor and dinner reception areas.

After the ceremony concluded, guests made their way to the dance floor area for cocktail hour. The music chosen by the clients for this portion was classic soul music. Sam Cooke, Norah Jones, Etta James, Nina Simone and Nat King Cole just to name a few.

Guests helped themselves to 3 flavors of popcorn and drinks while enjoying the cocktail hour music. Showers started to come and go but since the dance floor area and dinner areas were covered with tents, the rain was not a factor.

Guests were then invited over for dinner and since dinner and dance floor areas are separate at this wedding venue, a third speaker was ran so guests can still enjoy the music while eating and toasts and speeches can be heard.

Once dinner was served, toasts started with the maid of honor kicking things off. Once all the scheduled toasts were done, the couple decided to go with an open mic meaning if anyone who didn’t toast that wants to can do so. The bride and groom closed the toast by thanking everyone for coming and a few other kind words.

Cake cutting followed the toasts and they did not have a specific song for that so they left it up to me to decide. I went with “Say Hey (I Love You)” by Michael Franti and Spearhead

Once cake cutting concluded, guests were invited back over to the dance floor area for a special performance from Seattle hip hop group The Physics. Here is a short clip of their wonderful performance:

The couple then did a first dance shortly after their 25 minute set and and bride/father dance which all guests were invited to join the bride and her father on the dance floor.

► First Dance Song – “I Think Of You” by Rodriguez

► Bride/Father Dance Song – “Home Again” by Michael Kiwanuka

We continued on with dancing with a mix of 90’s music, top 40 and classic rock.

The bouquet toss, garter toss and last dance songs were all left up to me to choose. The songs I chose were:

► Bouquet Toss Song – “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)” by Beyonce

► Garter Toss Song – “Let’s Get It On” by Marvin Gaye

► Last Dance Song – “Nothing Can Change This Love” by Sam Cooke

The rain did begin to pour down towards the end of the night but that didn’t stop us from having a great time.
