A Perfect Weekend for a Seabrook Wedding

It seems as if we’re attracting Cougar alumni at our weddings this year. This destination Seabrook wedding was no different. It had the perfect August weekend picked out with highs in the mid 90s in Seattle and highs in the mid 70s in Seabrook. If you were a guest at this wedding, it was a great way to beat the heat.
Since Seabrook, WA is about 135 miles outside of Seattle. We stayed overnight and attended the rehearsal on Friday evening to go over music timing and mic instructions and after that, the prelude was the next thing up on the following day.

Seabrook Wedding Ceremony

The ceremony took place in beautiful Crescent Park just a few blocks from the Seabrook town hall. 200 guests were in attendance for this one.

As guests arrived, the couple selected music from artists like John Mayer, The Tallest Man On Earth and Bon Iver to be played. Once it was time to get started, the wedding party processional song was “Wait For Love” by Josh Ritter and the bride’s processional song was an Acoustic Moods Ensemble version of “Can’t Help Falling In Love” originally done by Elvis Presley.

The officiant was mic’d up with a clip on mic that also picked up the vocals from the bride and groom. A second wireless mic was needed for two readings during the ceremony.

After the bride and groom kissed for the first time as husband and wife, the recessional song chosen was “You Can’t Hurry Love” by Phil Collins.

Guests stayed at the park for about 15-20 min, while enjoying some beverages, at the conclusion of the ceremony before being invited up to the town hall for the reception.

Seabrook Wedding Reception

Once guests arrived at the town hall, the lawn was the setting for the grand entrance, toasts and cake cutting.

There was a second system setup outside to accommodate the guests. First up was the grand entrance where each member of the wedding party was introduced. The grand entrance songs selected for the wedding party was “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now” by Starship and “For Once In My Life” by Stevie Wonder for the bride and groom.

They immediately went into toast right on the steps of the town hall and then it was heavy appetizers, photo booth and music for a couple of hours.

The cake cutting was next which also took place on the steps and the song chosen for that was “How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)” by James Taylor.

Once the cake cutting finished, guests were invited in for dancing. First they did the Groom/Mother dance then the Bride/Father dance then the first dance and lastly an anniversary dance. The songs chosen for those were:

  • Bruce Springsteen – When You Need Me
  • Steve Tyrell – The Way you look tonight
  • Lucius – Two Of Us On The Run
  • Al Green – Let’s Stay Together

respectively.

Open dancing was next and there were no bouquet or garter tosses but there was a special performance from the ladies of Pie Beta Phi and the fellas of Delta Kai and since majority of the guests, including the bride and groom, were cougar alumni, it wouldn’t have been complete with a rendition of the cougar fight song.

The dance floor stayed packed pretty much the whole night.

They ended the night with a sparkler send off and that made for successful Seabrook wedding over the weekend.
