Mount Vernon Wedding Reception

Just over 150 guests were in attendance for this wedding reception. As they arrived for cocktail hour, there was a background music mix of mid-tempo top 40, reggae, classic rock, jazz, country and blues songs.

The wedding party, bride and groom arrived shortly after and were all introduced to “Best Day Of My Life” by American Authors.

Cocktail hour continued for about an hour with the same mix of music while guests enjoyed music, drinks and appetizers.

Mount Vernon Wedding Reception Dinner

For example, if the wedding DJ played “At Last” by Etta James and your table was labeled the same, that meant your table got to go through the buffet next. This process continues until all of the tables have been sent through the buffet.

This is a fun activity you can incorporate into your wedding reception to help spice it up.

The dinner mix continued with the same style music as cocktail hour music but just a little bit slower.

After dinner, we moved into toast which was given by the best man, maid of honor and grooms father which concluded with the bride and groom thanking everyone for attending.

Cake cutting was next, the song they chose was “The Way I Am” by Ingrid Michaelson.

We took a 30 minute break for some pre-dancing while some guests ate wedding cake.

Then we went to:

  • First Dance – “Wrapped Up In You” by Garth Brooks

  • Bride/Grandfather Dance – “Proud Mary” by Tina Turner
  • Groom/Mother Dance – “Forever Young” Joan Baez
  • Anniversary Dance – “Save The Last Dance For Me” by Michael Buble
  • Bouquet Toss – “Eye Of The Tiger” by Survivor

The song the bride picked to dance to her grandfather with was a song that her father used to sing to her and has since passed on.

The bouquet toss was open to everyone, men and women since the bride placed scratch tickets in the bouquet.

After bouquet toss, it was open dancing for the rest of the night.
