How Much Does A Wedding DJ Cost

If you’re reading this article, I’m going to assume you’re wondering how much does a wedding DJ cost. This is an excellent question and is the question we are usually asked first. This is not actually an easy question to answer.

Imagine for a second that you’re going to buy a car. You don’t walk onto the lot and ask “how much does a car cost” do you? I think you know the answer is going to be dependent on which car you want and that there’s going to be a wide price range?

Another example is a jewelry store. How much are your wedding rings?

This same concept applies to wedding DJs

So How Much Does A Wedding DJ Cost?

A good wedding DJ is going to cost you somewhere in the range of $900 to about $2500 for the night. I know DJs that even charge $5000 and up. Any wedding DJ that costs any less than $900 isn’t going to be an experienced DJ and the problems that can arise by working with an inexperienced DJ on your wedding day aren’t worth it.

How much does a wedding DJ cost?

Just like a car lot or a jewelry store, it will depend on what you’re looking for. Are you looking for DJ services for your ceremony and reception or just reception? If it’s both, are you going to need one sound system or two? Or in some cases, even three.

What day is the wedding on? Some DJ companies, like ours, give discounts for weddings that are held on an off peak day or an off peak time of the year.

How interested are you in lighting? There are dance floor lighting options and uplighting options.

Where will it be? Is there extensive travel involved or is your venue local?

How many guests are going to attend? This will tell us if a standard sound system will be sufficient or will extra sound be needed for a larger group.

To figure out all these details, it is best to meet with your potential wedding DJ to discuss and then an accurate price quote can be given.

This also gives you the opportunity to get a good feel for your wedding DJ because this is the one area you don’t want to get wrong.

Your guests won’t remember a bad decoration or not so nice venue but they will remember whether or not your DJ/Emcee and music was good or not. That being said, you want to hire someone that you both feel very comfortable with.
